Obituary for Robert Harris Shelton
Robert "Pastor Bob" Harris Shelton, missionary, evangelist, conference speaker, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was 91 years old when he passed into God's presence Wednesday, August 26, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Nancy Louise Shelton; brother, Donald Shelton; and grandson, Matthew Kilgus.
He was born in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Esther Merle and Rex Horris Shelton.
He is survived by daughters, Rebecca Lyn Kilgus (Mark) and Sharon Shelton Hulcy (Brad); son, Daniel Dale Shelton (Renee); grandchildren: Kristi Easterly (Chad), Chad Hulcy (Sarah), Laura Kilgus Noe (Max), Kyle Shelton (Elyssa), and Cameron Shelton; great-grandchildren: Owen, Lily, and Brooklyn Hulcy, Kimberly, Lavender, and Israel Shelton, and Waylon Easterly; sister, Rexella Van Impe; and many friends and loved ones.
Bob loved God and he loved people. He spent his life communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who had never heard the message, and encouraged and discipled those who knew Christ. His ministry continues through his books and radio. He will be greatly missed by his family and those who knew him.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing." - 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Faith Baptist Church, 500 W. Lee Rd., Taylors, SC 29687; Dr. Bob Jones III to officiate. The family will receive friends and loved ones one hour prior to the funeral, beginning 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Graceland East Memorial Park in Simpsonville.
