Obituary for Sally Virginia McAttee
At peace and surrounded by her family, as the first hummingbird of the season fed outside the great-room windows while she took her last breath, Sally Virginia McAttee, 82, of Greenville, SC, displayed tremendous courage and went to join her Lord on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. She was born in Detroit, MI to Marvelle Harris and the late Earl Jasper Harris.
In addition to her mother, Sally is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gordon Wayne McAttee; daughters, Angela McAttee and Joyce Howerton (Baron); son, Gordon Stephen McAttee (Pamela); grandchildren: Zach, Spencer, Andrew, Nate, Joey, and Gina Howerton; sister, Sharon Walker; brother, Earl Harris (Maria); and dear, special friends: Tom and Diane Hill, John and Joanne Rice, Ruth Doolittle, Joanne Bedenbaugh, and Helen Bridges. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Pam Bedingfield.
First and foremost, Sally was a wife, mother, and grandmother who exhibited constant and unconditional love with her every action and every word. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing old church hymns - her beautiful singing voice was a gift to all within earshot. Sally also enjoyed watching Hallmark movies and praying. She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly remembered and deeply missed.
Visitation will be held 3:00 - 5:00 PM Monday, July 25, 2022 at Palmetto Mortuary, 1017 Mauldin Rd., Greenville, SC 29607. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at North Hills Community Church, 4952 Edwards Rd., Taylors, SC 29687. The family will receive friends and loved ones a half-hour before the service, beginning 10:30 AM, and then again for a half-hour after the service. A private committal ceremony will follow the services down in Anderson, SC.
