Samuel Q. Paige, 83, of Pelzer, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, March 9th, 2020. He was the son of of the late Harry and Effie Paige .
He is survived by his wife Ido C. Paige; son, James "Pete" Cannon (Gail); daughters, Teresa Hall, Tammy C. Baker (Derek), and Angie C. Smith (Dennis); grandchildren, Jamie Mabery, Jennifer Mabery, Michael Cannon, Amber James, Traci Pittman, Ashleigh Hines, Lindsey Cannon, and Dallas Baker; great-grandchildren, Skylar Smith, Donnie Pittman, Sammie Pittman, Kenzie Johnson, Konner Johnson, Kameron Johnson, and Lily Hines.
He was preceded in death by his former wife Margaret Jean Paige; son, Samuel Wayne "Butch" Paige, and five siblings.
Sam was very proud of his 22 years of service in the US Army(Signal Corp). He retired as Sergeant First Class. Sam acquired a love for cooking from preparing meals for other soldiers. He served in the Vietnam War, was stationed in Germany for many years and also served in Korea for a short period.
After retiring from the Army, Sam operated his own restaurant where he sold his famous biscuits and bag lunches six days a week for many years. From there he decided to pursue a new career. He taught commercial food management skills at churches, I-Hop, McDonald's, and many other restaurants. He taught them how to order supplies, prepare food, take orders, and serve food, "from A to Z", as he would say.
Sam enjoyed bowling, playing poker with friends and family and watching game shows. He will be remembered for living life to the fullest and always laughing. Sam had a funny story or joke every time he saw you.
The family will have a Graveside service with Military Honors at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Friday March 20, 2020 at 3:00 pm, 140 Inway Dr, Anderson, SC 29621 . Place of Internment will be at the same location.
