Obituary for Thomas Roy Powell
Thomas R. Powell "Tommy", 72, of Greenville went to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Tommy was born in Greenville, SC.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirty four years Cindy Bishop Powell; father, E.C. Powell; sons, Mark Gravley, Chad Rainey, Tim Coggins; daughter, Beth Wald; siblings, Deborah O'brien (Rob), Vickie Corbin (Bert), Cynthia Burgess, Paul Powell, Terry Powell; grandchildren, Brody Wald, Braden Wald, Dalton Gravley; special friends, Robert and Rosemary Jones, Gay and Melton Jacks, and Paul Williams.
Tommy was preceded in death by his mother Ruby Powell.
He loved to race Go Karts, volunteer in the church and community, spend time at the beach. Most of all he loved his family. Tommy helped everyone. He took care of Mrs. Virginia Anderson and Mrs. Margaret Wing who both recently died. Tommy was loved and respected by everyone he met!
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 27, 2020 at 3:00pm at Dunean Baptist Church, 21 Allen Street, Greenville, SC 29605. The service will follow at 4:00pm with Military Honors.
An Entombment will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dunean Baptist Church, Remodel fund for "The Whosoever Will" Sunday School Class.
