Obituary for Velma Faye Crawford

Velma Faye Crawford, 80, of Caledonia, IL passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 surrounded by family. She was born May 14, 1940, in Oakland, IL, the daughter of Richard and Juanita (Bridwell) Brown.
Velma married Frank Crawford of Brockton, IL on June 21, 1963. She was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University and taught at Washington Elementary in Belvidere, IL for 32 years. She served on the board of directors at the Boone County Conservation District for several years and was a lifetime member of the Boone County Historical Society. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines and with her community chorus at her home in Florida. She was "team mom" for many local baseball teams at various levels including the Belvidere Blades. She dearly loved all her kids, whether family, extended family or students. She thoroughly enjoyed her breakfast clubs with dear friends over the years.

Her survivors include her husband, Frank; children, Charles Crawford and Nena (Jeff) Vincent; grandchildren, Kathyrn and Jonathan Vincent; brothers, Douglas Brown and Melvin L. Brown; sisters, Darlene Henkes, Janice Apple, and Beverly Farthing; many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and special family friends, Val and Milo Polito. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, and 3 brothers.
