Obituary for Walter Ray Evans
Walter "Ray" Evans, 53, went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2021.
Born in Alabaster, Alabama, Ray was the son of Barbara Evans Perry of Pelzer, SC and the late Walter Otis Evans. He is survived by a loving brother, John Paul Evans (Terri); nieces and nephews: Brandi (Hussein), Michael, Hayden, Amira, Avery; and many additional loved ones in North Carolina and Georgia.
Ray was an avid griller and cook. He was extremely artistic, loved drawing, painting, screen printing, air brush and tattooing. He will be remembered for his big heart, beautiful smile, and weird sense of humor. His loyalty to and thoughtfulness for his family and friends will be remembered and missed. He was a "force" in this world.
A memorial service will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Unity Baptist Church, 1000 Fairview Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29680, with a reception following in the church social hall.
Ray spent ten years battling a rare form of cancer called large B-cell lymphoma and developed "MAC" in his lungs. The family is asking in lieu of flowers, memorials be given in his honor to the B-Cell Lymphoma Society within the Greenville Cancer Society, 113 Mills Ave., Greenville, SC 29605, www.cancersocietygc.org.
