Obituary for William Harry Allison

William (Bill) Harry Allison, 91, of Greenville went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 26, exactly one month and one day from when the love of his life passed away. He was the husband of the late Mary Evelyn Allison for 64 years and is survived by a daughter, Becky Sentelle and her husband Joe, and two grandchildren, Justin and Molly.

Bill was a Navy veteran and served in WW2 and Korea. He attended Clemson College on the GI Bill and graduated in 1955 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He then moved to Miami and was employed by Florida Power and Light for 35 years. He and Mary Evelyn made their home there and raised a family. He was an avid fisherman and his favorite spot was at Stiltsville in Biscayne Bay. He enjoyed camping, trips to the Keys and the mountains of NC. He loved working in the yard and growing roses. He was a member of Kendall United Methodist Church.

In 1991 they retired and moved to Summerville, SC where he was active in
Bethany United Methodist Church, The Timrod Library, Sculpture in the South and
the Elks Lodge.

In 2009, they moved to Rolling Green Village and was a member of Mauldin United Methodist Church. He took part in senior activities until his health declined.

Even though he was legally blind he enjoyed reading and working cross word puzzles daily. He had a rose garden at every home he had. He and Mary Evelyn took over a dozen trips after retirement, domestic and international and made good friends through these travels.

Born in Spartanburg and raised in Blacksburg, he was a son of the late Howard and Sarah Allison. He was predeceased by 5 brothers, Lewis, Gene, JH, Frank and Marshall Allison.

He is survived by 2 sisters, Loretta Gay and Catherine Kerns and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in
