I grew up with Gary Wayne in the same community and went from the primer through high school together.
We would get into at least one fight per year at at school, but were still freinds in the end. We went to church together. I was living in west middleton indiana and went into the army. Afer i got out of AIT training, I was sent to Veit Nam. I found out that Gary was over there and of course I wrote him. He answered me back. He told me the outfit he was in, it was the 25th infintry division in chu chi, and that he was a 4duce morter man. He asked me a question that I will always remember and that was, "Do you think we would fight if we were to meet now?" WI was talking to him one day I ask him if he remembered asking me a question in that letter, he told me he didn't remember what it was, he told me he didn't and i told him. I told him that I would have to tell him that I would have to tell him that I would have to shake hands with him. I ask ed him if he cared if I came down and see him. He told me that I was welcome to come to his house anytime I wanted to. That meant the world to me. That was on Monday, he told me he was going home the next day. I thought I would go and see him on Friday.I didn't get to go and I decided to go on the following Monday, and on Sunday I got a call from a freind that told me Gary had passed away on Saturday morning. I have wished many many many times that I had went down and visited him on Wednesday. Apparently my good freind knew something that the rest of us did't know when he said he was going home. This is one time he got a head start on me. But one day I will catch up with you my good freind and brother in the Lord, and we will sit down and talk with out interruption as long as we want to. Good by for now good freind until we meet again in that Heavenly Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I will miss you many many many times until then. AMEN!
