Growing up Melinda was always larger than life to me. As a little tike, I can remember watching from the bleachers as she played softball for her high school team. She was the loudest motivator on the team. Even from the outfield, everyone could hear her cheering the team along. Later, my first trophy was for best sportsmanship in tee-ball. I remember giving her the trophy and telling her that she was the one that earned it for me as I was simply doing what I had seen her do years before.
I saw that same zeal for life later and she married, had children, advanced professionally, and seemed to never let a dull moment exist in her life. Whether camping, fishing, beaching, singing in church, in the car, or just throwing a family Christmas party, she was full of life. That's the Melinda I will always remember and will continue to attempt to emulate. I will miss you sis!
